Requirements of the Post
• Caring personality with empathy for older people; • A hands-on, proactive member of the care team; • Ability to work as a member of a team and on their own; • Good written and spoken English to a level capable of accurately recording care notes, and communicating effectively with people.
Duties. • To Visit service users as directed by your rota. • To provide personal care as directed by the care plan to a service user. Personal care consists of assistance with washing, bathing, showering, dressing, feeding, toileting, catheter care and continence care. • To assist with transfers safely e.g. from bed to chair. Using Health & Safety Regulations. • To provide meals as per instructed by the care plan. • To be aware of, and to follow the company’s policy on handling service users money. • To assist with medicines, as instructed in the care plan. • To record legible notes in the service users care manual, giving details of the care provided on each visit. • To be aware of the service users physical and emotional well-being, observing improvement & deterioration and to report to the office. • To bring to the attention of the office any concerns about a service users health or well being. • To respond to a crisis situation, finding the service user on the floor, not at home etc and to summon the appropriate persons. • To complete time sheets and deliver them to the office on time. • To report any suspected form of abuse on a service user or another colleague to the office. • To observe the companies code of practice at all times. • To attend regular training sessions.
Main Purpose of Position
To preserve the privacy, confidentiality and dignity of individual service users, whilst demonstrating an understanding of their rights; to ensure that all care needs of service user’s are met in full, according to the care plan; undertaking of risk assessments at a service user’s home and reporting any problems to the Care Manager or Coordinators; Recording of accurate care given information in a service user’s care plan; to report any change of circumstances in a service user’s health or environment, to the Care Manager or Coordinators; to promote the independence of service user’s in accordance with the care plan; to ensure training is up to date and sufficient for the service user’s being visited.
